Lolitas are often portrayed as fragile real life dolls, drinking tea, holding hands and dressing up to sit around looking lovely. Sure, that's cute for photo shoots and maybe that is the lifestyle of some people, but it's not REAL for most of us. We have jobs, families, prolems, friends, school, hobbies etc and of course - feelings just like everybody else. Sometimes these things are forgotten; like when a lolita responds to rudeness with any form of a temper. ~*gasp* aren't lolitas supposed to be nice!?~ There is no rulebook that says because you wear a frilly dress you have to behave and feel a certain way. No one has the right to say you can't do something because you are a lolita.
"You're too fat for lolita!" "Your skin is too dark for lolita!" "You're too tall for lolita!" "You're too ugly for lolita!" "You're disgusting if you drink or do drugs and are a lolita!" "You're not cute enough for lolita" BLAH BLAH BLAH. This is all absolute nonsense and it gets thrown around far too much. No one can tell you you're not good enough to persue what you love, if it is lolita or not. It's not possible to please everybody, so just please yourself! It is 100% true that no one is perfect, yes that includes lolitas. We can drink, smoke, listen to whatever music we please, do drugs, cry, have sex, follow whatever faith we please, wear replicas, swear like sailors, struggle with disorders and diseases, hate tea, live on take-out, love any gender, be whatever size we please and there is nothing anyone can do about that because we are human too. We have the right to be who we are or want to be, just like everybody else and nobody has the right to interfere with that.
The power of being a human being is often underrated, we have so many things to make the most of. We have a brain, life, opportunities and it's amazing what we can do with these things. I like to think of being a human lolita like it's love - “Love is patient; love is kind and envies no one. Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude; never selfish, not quick to take offense. There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, its hope, and endurance. In a word, there are three things that last forever: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of them all is love.” Fuck everyone who has ever made you feel less than you are, I love you.
